With all these calls to action, the one that resonates most for me is the one to educate ourselves and to become informed. After being frustrated by analyses that I felt didn't consider a historical perspective of policing in America, I realized that we all are at different levels of knowledge around this topic. Particularly, the root of the problem. I decided to share this written work I completed in Fall 2017 entitled "Containment: The Hidden Historical Function of Police in America." This text explores containment beyond a physical circumstance, but also intended to serve as a mental and emotional barrier. I chose not to edit for current events, so any new knowledge, language or critical analysis I've gained since 2017 is not incorporated here. Look at the little stuff, sometimes it’ll 🤯 blow your mind

I’ve been blown away by snap insights a lot over of the last several months and am now starting to notice the thread between a lot of them

It comes down to ‘catching myself in the act’, if you will >> paying enough attention to the auto-pilot habits of daily living that provide physical clues to a sub/unconscious narrative

This unknown narrative tends to act a script that will essentially direct the life of a person...if it’s remains unknown.

Paying more & more attention to the ‘little things’ of daily living help to make the narrative more & more known.

The things like morning routine, daily commute, and how you engage with the act of eating.

That’s been a really informative one for me: often rushed & distracted.

You can also pay special attention to any uplifting impulses or occurrences that excite you.

Amazing growth may arise from allowing yourself to engage with the things you feel most passionate for...whether deemed ‘productive’ or not
