HONORING DJ ROMANO 💙💛

Newburgh Football would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jimmy Romano, the Romano Family, and everyone involved with the annual DJ Romano Memorial Golf Outing for their incredibly generous donation to our program.

The Romano Family has been a special part of Newburgh Football for decades. Jimmy and his brother DJ both played in our program, and their father was our Booster Club President before and after I took over as Head Coach in 2009.

Tragically, DJ was taken from us far too soon in a snowmobiling accident. At the time, he was serving as a Town of Newburgh Police Officer, giving back to the community he loved.

Most importantly, DJ was a loving husband to his beautiful wife, Kaitlyn, and an amazing father to his two beautiful daughters, Adrianna and Alina. His family was his greatest pride and joy.

The DJ Romano Memorial Golf Outing continues to honor his memory by giving back to DJ’s family, local sports programs, and families in need. We are incredibly grateful that Newburgh Football continues to be one of the organizations they support.

There is something special about seeing former Goldbacks stay connected and give back to the next generation. With thousands of alumni who have come through our program, support from our Goldback family helps us continue providing opportunities and experiences for today’s players.

Jimmy and the Romano Family are a beautiful example of what it means to never forget where you came from.

Thank you to everyone who continues to keep DJ’s memory and legacy alive.

DJ was a Goldback. DJ served his community. DJ was a husband and a father. His legacy of love, service and giving continues to make a difference.

Newburgh Football Friends, Family & Alumni,

This is Coach Bianco from Newburgh Free Academy Football.

Every year, our players come together for one fundraiser to help support our football program. This is the one fundraiser we ask our players to participate in all year, and we’re hoping to make this year’s effort something special.

But this is about more than fundraising.

It’s about Goldbacks supporting Goldbacks.

Newburgh Football has a proud tradition that stretches back to 1889. Over the years, thousands of young men have put on that Goldback uniform, built lifelong friendships, learned valuable lessons, and carried the pride of Newburgh with them long after their playing days were over.

Today, those former Goldbacks are everywhere — raising families, building businesses, serving their communities, and succeeding in every walk of life.

We want our current players to understand that they are part of something much bigger than themselves. They are the next chapter in a tradition that has been built by generations before them.

If you’re a former player, parent, alumni, community member, or simply someone who believes in what Newburgh Football means to our community, we’d be honored to have you be part of this year’s campaign.

Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us continue to provide our players with the experiences, opportunities and resources they deserve.

And to everyone who supports us — please know that we don’t take it for granted.

We’ll do everything we can to make you proud of the young men representing Newburgh Football.
