Land to Learn

Land to Learn As thousands of children across the Hudson Valley participate in weekly standards-based garden education, they develop a love of learning and the outdoors.

Land to Learn cultivates connection to food, land, and community by engaging youth in hands-on, garden-based education that nourishes health, ecological awareness, and collective well-being. Land to Learn educates children in school gardens, empowering students through curriculum-integrated lessons focused on healthy eating, food literacy, outdoor learning and academic success. As students plant s

eeds, steward the land, and share new foods with their peers, they are also cultivating compassion, patience and self discipline. By partnering with schools to provide students with innovative, experiential and project-based food education, Land to Learn helps students connect discoveries in the classroom to action in the community.

We are thankful for the continued support of the Orange County Youth Bureau for their generous funding for our Newburgh SproutEd program, both during the school year and during summer school. In these photos, students from Temple Hill Academy in the Newburgh Enlarged City School District were observing critters from the soil and giving thumbs up to kale....well, mostly! đŸ˜†

Thank you to Stewart's Shops for providing a grant to Land to Learn to help us further our mission of bringing fresh vegetables to children through our SproutEd program here in the Hudson Valley. We believe in the power of garden-based outdoor and food education to help kids develop healthy relationships with the food that they grow in their own school garden. Here are kids from Glenham Elementary School in Beacon, NY, part of the Beacon City School District, enjoying their garden!
