Technology Fee FAQ
Due by Friday, September 4
Required Fee $25

This yearly fee is required of all students in K–12th grade and is used to cover costs of using 1:1 devices as well as shared technology resources on each campus.
The fee must be paid prior to September 4, unless arrangements have been made and documented in writing.

Why Pay?
The $25 required fee also covers accidental damage for the year:
1st accident – no cost to repair
2nd accident – $50 cost (or less if repair is less than $50)
3rd+ accidents – students/parents may be required to cover all or part of damage cost.

Any damages deemed by school and district administrators to be intentional will incur disciplinary actions based on the Behavior Matrix in addition to covering the full cost of repair, regardless of if the fee was paid.

Accidental Damage
Any damages deemed by school and district administrators to be accidental will be covered based on the outline above. Any accidental damage must be reported to the school’s administration as soon as possible after the damage occurs.

Payment Hardships
Families wishing to be considered for hardships for covering the $25 required fee should make a written request to their school’s principal, so arrangements can be made to assist the student and family.

🐾BULLDOG MONTHLY NEWSLETTER | BULLDOG BUILT

FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Bulldogs,
I would like to officially welcome you all to the 26-27 school year. It is wonderful to see our students back walking through the halls, talking with friends, and enjoying their classes. This newsletter is released each month with useful information for families. We also encourage families to “stay in the know” by following our social media pages, visiting our school website, and checking in with Parent Portal regularly.
The community of Newberry is strong, and we are committed to working together to support our students so that they can succeed. Each month, I will highlight a data point or goal that Newberry High has for this year. The best interest of our students is always the top priority as we set goals. Last year, the number one referral (discipline) for NHS students was “tardy to class”. This year, we are emphasizing being on time and being ready to learn. Being late not only disrupts the learning for the student that is tardy, but it disrupts the learning environment for the whole class. To tackle this issue, we are going over expectations with students and encouraging them each block to get to their next class in a timely manner. In addition, we have reward activities planned for those who are consistently on time.
The best way for families to help us is to ensure that your high school student comes to school on time, and to talk to your high school student about the importance of being in each class on time. We want our students in our classrooms, and we know that we cannot place a value on the time they get with their teachers. We also understand that special circumstances happen, and that students sometimes must be late. Please communicate with us if these circumstances arise.
I look forward to working with you all this year. Go Bulldogs!

Sarah Harvey, Principal

👨‍🏫 NHS Teacher Cadets

NHS is THRILLED to be the home to 21 teacher cadets this fall! The Teacher Cadet program is a South Carolina founded and built program that shows high school students what teaching is all about. They learn about human growth and development, teaching strategies, classroom management, and more! These lucky students will spend five weeks partnering with some of the best elementary school teachers in the state in order to really live the teaching experience. We hope that this shows how valuable teachers are in our society and the need for the best of the best!

NHS proudly partners with the Newberry College Teacher Education Program to provide this opportunity to our students!
