Our Panthers worked HARD during Read-A-Thon, and yesterday we celebrated BIG!

We had an afternoon full of laughter, cheering, and some serious competition with an inflatable race!

I'm honestly not sure what was more entertaining… watching students cheer their hearts out for their favorite teachers, seeing the talented Ms. Hastings race in PLATFORM SHOES, or watching Coach Jones run at the SPEED OF LIGHT!

One thing is for sure, our teachers understood the assignment, and our Panthers had a BLAST!

Thank you to our amazing students for all their hard work during Read-A-Thon and to our staff for being such good sports!

Our Panthers are so lucky to have such fun and memorable experiences, especially when they involve amazing community readers!

Ginny Sumrall was a real treat for our students today! They loved hearing her read, spending time with her, and of course, doing the Gator Chomp!

We are so fortunate to have Ginny and her wonderful family in the Gator Nation. Thank you for taking the time to inspire our little Panthers and help make reading fun!

What a wonderful surprise for our wonderful art teacher Ms. Cordes! We are so lucky to have an art teacher with such great experience, passion and love for the arts!

Congrats again! And thank you to WCJB TV20 News, BMW of Gainesville and Gettel Toyota Gainesville for recognizing teachers all across Alachua county!

Mrs. Cordes teaches at Newberry Community School.

THE CANDY MONSTER IS STARVING, Y’ALL.

The ladies behind him may be smiling, but don’t be fooled. That monster has one thing on his mind:

CANDY. LOTS OF IT.

So clean out the candy aisles, raid the party stash, call Grandma — whatever you have to do. We need peanut-free candy for Trunk or Treat on October 30!

Have your kiddos feed the Candy Monster when they get to school!

Let’s fill this monster up before he starts eating PTO volunteers. 😂

AND THIS YEAR, THE CANDY DOESN’T STOP AFTER TRUNK OR TREAT!

We’re partnering with Pavlik Orthodontics for their Candy Buy Back! Any extra candy donated to the Candy Monster, or candy brought in after Halloween, will be donated to our troops.

Even better: NCS earns $1 for every pound of candy donated, and the school that donates the most can win $1,000!

So yes… we are officially asking you to send us candy before Halloween AND after Halloween. 😂

Feed that Candy Monster!

Newberry Community School is sparkling this year, and we know exactly who to thank - our amazing custodian team 💙💛

They work hard every day to keep our school clean and welcoming, while still taking time to greet our Panthers with a smile or high five.

If you see them around campus today (and everyday), be sure to give them a big THANK YOU! We appreciate all they do for NCS!

We appreciate them so much!

Hope to see you and your family at Skate Station tonight from 5:30–7:30!

Don’t forget—this fun night out also helps raise funds for our school! 🎉

The kids get to skate, laugh, and hang out with their friends… and the adults get a little grown-up conversation while they do it. 😉 Sounds like a win-win to us!

Grab the family and come hang out with your Panther community tonight!
