Each year, we shut down campus for an entire day so nearly 2,000 students and employees can serve at churches, nonprofits, retirement communities and more.

When Stefanie Hazard graduated from George Fox with her Bachelor of Social Work in 2003, the social work industry was undergoing serious change. Several social service agencies disbanded, throwing the job market into disarray and leaving Hazard unable to find work in her field of study. She bounced between several oddball jobs to make ends meet, leaving Oregon to find employment in Texas.

Serving with passion 🇵🇷

Earlier this summer, University Pastor for Service & Soul Care Rusty St. Cyr led a team of George Fox students and employees to Puerto Rico, where they served with The Happy Givers, an organization that grows food on a working farm and gives it to neighbors in need.

It’s one of many SpiL trips available to students throughout the year, pairing immersion with service and giving students the opportunity to rub shoulders with people who are living out their faith in the real world.
