🎒 Kindergarten Gradual Entry at Mabel Rush

Gradual Entry gives our youngest learners time to build relationships, learn routines, explore their classrooms, and begin kindergarten feeling comfortable and confident.

📅 FAMILY MEETINGS
August 31 and September 1
Kindergarten teachers will meet individually with students and families for a 20-minute appointment.

Sign up information was sent via email on Aug. 24. Contact the office if you need assistance signing up.

🏫 GRADUAL ENTRY DAYS

Wednesday, September 2: Students with last names A–L attend.

Thursday, September 3: Students with last names M–Z attend.

Friday, September 4: All kindergarten students attend.
Final class placement information will be sent via email after school of Sept 4.

There is no school on Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day. Students will start in their classroom on Tuesday, September 8.

# Birds Heard in Our Garden

Our school garden has a new listener! We have installed a small BirdNET station that uses a microphone and Raspberry Pi computer to recognize nearby bird calls.

BirdNET analyzes short sections of sound and suggests which bird species may be present. Throughout the week, the station builds a record of the birds heard around our garden. We then turn those detections into a weekly illustrated bird atlas that our students, staff, and community can explore.

This project will provide students an engaging way to connect technology, science, art, and the natural world. Over time, our observations may help us notice seasonal changes, migration patterns, and which birds make use of our school grounds.

BirdNET detections are acoustic identifications rather than confirmed visual sightings, but they provide a wonderful starting point for observation and investigation. We look forward to discovering who is singing, calling, and visiting our garden each week!

📱 New ParentVUE App

Families who use the ParentVUE mobile app will need to download the new version before the start of the school year. The previous app has been discontinued.

To get ready:

• Delete the old ParentVUE app
• Download ParentVUE (New) from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
• Log in with your existing username and password
• Select “Already Activated” when signing in — you do not need a new activation key.

When searching the app store, look for ParentVUE by Edupoint Educational Systems.

Taking care of this now will make sure you’re ready to access ParentVUE when the new school year begins!
