Newark Saves

Yesterday, Newark Public Schools officially launched Newark Saves—a new college savings initiative that will open accounts for 3,000 incoming kindergarten students.

At the press conference, Superintendent León, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, Senator M. Teresa Ruiz, and Jasmyne Beckford joined kindergartners and their families to celebrate this major step in helping Newark students begin planning early for college.
This program is made possible through funding from The Prudential Foundation and the support of FOCUS Hispanic Center for Community Development.
