The Rutgers University Board of Governors appointed Dr. Daniel B. Jones, professor and chair of the Department of Surgery and assistant dean at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, to the Benjamin F. Rush Jr. Chair in Surgery, effective July 11, 2022.

Dr. David Livingston, NJMS professor emeritus of surgery and former chief of trauma and surgical critical care, will receive the Albany Medical College Department of Surgery Alden March Distinguished Surgeon Award. This distinguished award is given to alumni or previous trainees from Albany Medical College who have made significant contributions to medical research and/or education. Dr. Livingston will be honored at a reception on May 3, 2023, followed by a Grand Rounds presentation on May 4, 2023.

This award is named in honor of Dr. Alden March, a surgeon and founder of Albany Medical College.

Last month’s community prostate cancer screening was a success! The joint event between UH, the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey - CINJ, and SAVE helped provide 19 men with access to free screenings for prostate cancer. Events like these are a part of our ongoing effort to serve our community through accessible, preventative health care. Thank you to Dr. Nancy Louis, Dr. Luis Duque, Dr. Robert Weiss and the Cancer Institute of New Jersey’s talented team for coming together for this event. Keep an eye out for future screenings in the coming months!
