Today marks the beginning of Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Q***r history, and the ongoing fight for equal rights. Pride Month takes place in June in honor of the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969.

May 19 marks National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, meant to raise awareness and promote action against HIV and AIDS within Asian and Pacific Islander communities. It also emphasizes the importance of education, quality care, and addressing stigma and related health conditions.

May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Today is not only to bring awareness to the ways discrimination is still affecting the lives of thousands of people, but also to expose the ways our society is supporting that discrimination. Today is a day to celebrate the ways people are standing up against hate and promoting love and community connection.

On May 3rd, we celebrate International Family Equality Day. Different types of families are more and more widespread. Families with single parents, same s*x parents, recomposed, adoptive, foster, extended, and elective families are part of the everyday experience of children and families. They are all equally valid and deserving of equal rights and respect.

April 18th is recognized as National Transgender HIV Testing Day and acknowledges the disproportionate impact of HIV on the transgender community while encouraging routine HIV testing. This day also serves as a day to encourage public officials and organizations to hold aid testing and preventative care programs to ensure people have access to the care and screening they need.
