Happy Pride Month!

Today marks the beginning of Pride Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the LGBTQ+ community, Q***r history, and the ongoing fight for equal rights. Pride Month takes place in June in honor of the anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in June 1969.

Happy Pans*xual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day! Celebrated on 24 May annually, this celebration offers a chance to amplify and listen to voices within the pans*xual and panromantic communities.

n 2010, Harvey Milk Day was observed as a national holiday. The Harvey Milk Foundation celebrates the holiday on May 22nd and has continued to spread Milk’s message.

May 19 is dedicated to celebrating agender people and identity, as well as raising awareness of the issues and discrimination that they face. Agender Pride Day celebrates that there are more ways to be human than our current systems allow and that every single one of them deserves respect.

May 19 marks National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, meant to raise awareness and promote action against HIV and AIDS within Asian and Pacific Islander communities. It also emphasizes the importance of education, quality care, and addressing stigma and related health conditions.

May 17th is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. Today is not only to bring awareness to the ways discrimination is still affecting the lives of thousands of people, but also to expose the ways our society is supporting that discrimination. Today is a day to celebrate the ways people are standing up against hate and promoting love and community connection.

On May 3rd, we celebrate International Family Equality Day. Different types of families are more and more widespread. Families with single parents, same s*x parents, recomposed, adoptive, foster, extended, and elective families are part of the everyday experience of children and families. They are all equally valid and deserving of equal rights and respect.

April 26th is Le***an Visibility Day! This day is at the height of Le***an Visibility Week and brings the week to a close, though it doesn’t end the need to continue raising awareness and ensuring le***ans are visible and accurately represented.

Join us in celebrating Le***an Visibility Week from today and leading up to Le***an Visibility Day on April 26. Le***an Visibility Week works to ensure le***ans’ lives, culture, and communities are visible across public, social, and cultural spaces. Visibility boosts belonging and safety.

April 18th is recognized as National Transgender HIV Testing Day and acknowledges the disproportionate impact of HIV on the transgender community while encouraging routine HIV testing. This day also serves as a day to encourage public officials and organizations to hold aid testing and preventative care programs to ensure people have access to the care and screening they need.
