Now I'm bragging. This last weekend I received the 2024 Ohio Biological Survey Naturalist Award. It's kind of one of those Lifetime Achievement things. I've been at this stuff since I was a Junior High School kid and it has been nothing but fun. I love my life in the sciences and its nice to get some recognition.

Before facial hair! 1959 English Ford I learned how to drive. Gave my pal Skip a few harrowing drives in it. My memory is his first car was Charlie’s work car, a Plymouth Valient!
A celebration of life forCharles ”Skip” Stricklin will be Saturday April 1st 11:00 AM at Criss brothers funeral home. Love ya man.

Adios to our ole pal Charles. Taking his final sleigh ride to that North Pole in the sky. He was part of our life from 1965. Shared many memories growing up, as co conspirators, room mates, and Santa for my girls, neighbors, and friends. Everyone he met remembers him as a nice guy, which he most certainly was. Smart, insightful, and willing to take the opposite view of whatever you might discuss. Frequent library patron, well read, only recent cable tv customer, and never owned a cell phone, facts of his life. Volunteer at The Midland Theatre and Licking County Historical Society. Historical re-enactor at Roscoe Village and trunk histories for LCHS. Santa was his longest gig and he loved drawing and storytelling.
His only living relative, niece Stephanie, was fighting for him through the end and OSU James did what they could for his care. He was a believer and told her he was ready when they stopped treatment. She is deciding on a date in April to have a celebration of his life.
We will see you on the other side ole pal! MM
Update on Skip. They took him off ventilator & he is breathing on his own. She said they are slowing taking him off dialysis and then trying to build up his strength to see what next steps are. I will do my best to post his progress. Thanks for all your prayers & concern.

Please include our old pal Skip “Charles“ Stricklin in your prayers. He is in ICU at OSU. Multiple issues since before Christmas. Taking him off ventilator today to see if can breathe on his own. Niece Stephanie is here from Atlanta over seeing his care. This picture is from Thanksgiving when he joined us for dinner. We’re pulling for you old buddy!
Sad news, we’ve lost another classmate. Karen Marriott Hendricks has passed. Her daughter Gina and granddaughter Haley have posted on Facebook and there is a go fund me to help with funeral expenses. We will miss her in the front row at the Midland, where she was a constant supporter. Rest In Peace Karen❤️
Thanks to everyone that made an effort to attend our reunion! I’ve received good feedback that everyone had a good time. Thanks to Diane & Marti for the memorial board & getting the cake. Thanks to Brent for sending & researching the emails. Kudos to Moundbuilders Country Club for a good meal and providing the room at no charge. Who knows what 2030 will bring. Be healthy and stay safe to everyone and thanks for making our little shindig a success!
