Today we’re serving up a throwback to the 1989 Newark Catholic Volleyball team and celebrating the generations of student-athletes who have helped build the tradition of NC athletics.

🌱🌼 Classroom Spotlight: Growing for Next Year!

Our Environmental Science students have been busy putting sustainability into action! Students collected the spent marigold blooms around our school entrances, which contain seeds that can be saved and planted next year.

Instead of purchasing all new flowers, students are learning firsthand how plants complete their life cycle while helping us prepare to grow another beautiful crop of marigolds for NC next spring. 🌼

A simple project with a lasting impact—learning, sustainability, and a little Green Wave pride all rolled into one! 💚

🤝 Dress Down. Give Back. Make a Difference.

Tomorrow and Friday, students are invited to participate in Dress Down with a minimum $1 to support the Spirit of Hope Disaster Relief Fund established by the Diocese of Columbus to help those impacted by the recent flooding in Licking, Muskingum and Perry Counties.

The Spirit of Hope Fund provides support organizations such as Catholic Social Services and St. Vincent de Paul Societies, as well as directly assisting families, parishes and schools affected by flooding.

Every dollar helps our neighbors in need. 💚

In addition, parishes across the Diocese will be conducting a second collection at Mass this weekend for the Spirit of Hope Fund.

🍎 Teacher Feature: Meet Mrs. Keely Calvert!
For the past six years, Mrs. Keely Calvert has been a welcoming presence at Newark Catholic as our Guidance Counselor. This year, she's also taking on a new role as Junior NCAA President, helping students grow as leaders both in and out of the classroom.

When she's not at school, you'll likely find Keely reading, baking, or cheering on her favorite sports teams. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a book editor—a passion that makes perfect sense when you learn her favorite novel is Pride and Prejudice. Her ideal place to enjoy a good book? Lake Michigan, her favorite travel destination.

When asked what her students have taught her, Keely shared:

"That every day is a clean slate."
It's a reminder that each new day brings fresh opportunities to learn, grow, and begin again.
