Color in landscape design shapes mood and movement, and in “My Coloring Book,” Joe Henderson, horticulturist at Chanticleer Garden, invites us to embrace both intentional choices and spontaneous combinations to create expressive, personal gardens. Join us at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19 in Townsend Hall for our spring lecture. More info and tickets can be found here:

Rhododendron 'George Tabor' as described by our Collections Manager: This Rhododendron is not commonly found in the trade, but it should be! It boasts some of the largest flowers for an azalea and produces many flowers per plant as well. Pink-salmon flowers with a speckled throat make for a worthwhile time to stick your schnozz up close and personal and see what the bees see!

Help us build a vibrant garden entry that welcomes and connects our students and community. The Townsend East Lawn and Garden project is almost entirely donor-funded, and we’re close to reaching our goal. As part of that effort, we’re participating in I Heart UD Day—if you’d like to help bring this project to completion, please visit this link: https://givingday.udel.edu/giving-day/112282/department/119111?_hsenc=p2ANqtz--U51ektWEAvkyyK8yoCL6NhZ1RjEzFhvBDC6n9wFQkCAdtKhnylNSXV1Gww-ZGz1SpB7WA7gwgRLLZ_JcfiYxKpPfftQ&_hsmi=416184624.
Thank you!

Happy first day of spring, fellow gardeners! Here to help us celebrate is our beautiful creeping phlox, just starting to bloom in our nursery and ready to thrive in your garden.

Our Magnolia biondii, aptly nicknamed Hope for Spring, burst into bloom earlier this week. Our specimen was grown from wild-collected seed in northern China in 1998. As the earliest-blooming magnolia in our collection, its beautiful, fragrant white flowers often last only a few days before frost claims them. This year, instead of frost, we were greeted with snow… which feels about right for the kind of season we’ve been having.
