1st team: Corben Hickman
2nd team: Andrew Baughman, Cameron Cayton
3rd team: Josh Moody

The Cats are loaded up and in route to the Darby District Tournament! Weigh-ins are at 2. Wrestling begins at 4. Cameron Cayton is ready to compete to punch his ticket to the state tournament. Avidan Shaw and Corben Hickman are waiting to see if they get in the tournament as alternates. Go Cats!

As most of you know, this is the first season we have girls wrestling in Newark. With this being a new program, our girls wrestling team has their own page. Please feel free to follow their page Newark Wrestling-Girls to help us spread the word and continue to grow this program into something truly special!

Our girls showed up and showed out today! Congratulations to:

So proud of these athletes and the fight they bring to the mat every time.

Tomorrow our girls wrestling team travels to Lancaster to compete against Lancaster. Weigh ins are at 5, wrestling will begin at 6pm. Good luck ladies as we continue to grow heading into the post season!

The Newark Boys wrestling team beat Reynoldsburg tonight to send our Seniors off the right way in their last home dual meet of their high school career. Way to go guys! Winning matches for the cats were; Cayton, Chute, Rogers, Shaw, Hecker, Baughman, Hickman, and Dailey-Blum.

On the girls side, the Newark girls team fought but came up short against Reynoldsburg. Winning for the Lady Cats was Brooklyn Dowell in a tight, come from behind victory. Good job Brooklyn!

Our boys wrestling team competed at the Utica invitational today. We finished 3rd out of 15 teams. Placing top 4 were; Cameron Cayton (1st), Avidan Shaw (3rd), Andrew Baughman (2nd), Corben Hickman (3rd), Miekel Eller (2nd), James Williamson (3rd), and Joshua Moody (2nd). Good job guys!

Looking ahead, all high school and middle school wrestlers need to report to the high school tonight by 7:15 to help with the youth tournament set up. With everyone’s help, we can get everything set up relatively quickly.

All middle school boys and girls and high school boys need to help run the tournament tomorrow.

The Varsity Boys wrestling team finished 6/16 teams at the Don Wasserbeck Classic today. Placing top 5 were; Avidan Shaw (3rd), Andrew Baughman (5th), Corben Hickman (2nd) and Josh Moody (2nd). Way to go guys!

The championship matches were wrestled under a spotlight. What a great way to highlight the title matches. Thank you to the parents who came out to support our team! Go Cats!

Our boys team competed at the Licking Valley tournament yesterday. Placing top 6 were Avidan Shaw, Andrew Baughman, and Corben Hickman. There are no podium photos to post as there was not a podium.

Our girls team competed in the first annual Whitehall Yearling Lady Rams Invite. Placing top 3 in their weight class were; Brooklyn Dowell (champion) and Cescily Shaw (3rd place). Brooklyn Dowell’s performance today is a historic one. She becomes the first Newark womens wrestler to finish a tournament In first place!

Looking ahead; our boys and girls team host Canal Wi******er on Thursday at 6pm for our next OCC Buckeye Division League dual. Come out and support our boys and girls programs. Go Cats!!dmensh ac

After some hard fought wrestling the past two days at the Olentangy Liberty tournament, Josh Moody became the first Newark Wildcat wrestler since Eli Justice, Kallan Baker, and James Daugherty to earn a spot on the podium at the Liberty Classic. Way to go Josh!

Joshua Moody bounced back from his semifinals set back and will wrestle for third in the tough Liberty Tournament. Finals are set to begin at 3:00!

After an up and down first day at Liberty, 5 Newark wrestlers are ready to compete in day 2. Cameron Cayton, Treig Loughman, Avidan Shaw and Corben Hickman need to battle back through the consolation bracket to earn their placement. Joshua Moody is still battling through the championship bracket and has earned his spot on the podium. There’s still a lot of wrestling ahead for us today but we are ready to go!

Thank you to the families making the trip out to come support us. Go Cats!

Big day of wrestling for our young guys! Our freshman team competed in the Gahanna Lincoln Freshman tournament and came ready to go.

Team finished 5th out 10 teams. All 8 wrestlers placed in their perspective weight classes.

Leading the way were Andrew Baughman, Corben Hickman and James Williamson who all won their perspective weight classes, bringing home gold medals.

Evan Alexander took second, his only loss being to Andrew in the championship match.

Timothy Dailey-Blum took second earning his first career medal.

Chase Collins finished fourth in his weight class.

Cameron Cayton placed fifth, earning a 15-0 tech fall in the fifth place match.

Finally, Will Chute took 6th on the day.

These kids competed and helped set the tone that the future is bright for the Newark Wildcats! Way to go guys.
