McKinley’s STEAM Academy!
Students used colorful beads to represent chemical bases for DNA and made complimentary base pair friendship bracelets. Then, students solved for dominant alleles using Rock-Paper-Scissors, and created unique phenotypes for monster babies! 👶🏻

McKinley was honored to welcome Co-Vice President of the Newark Board of Education to McKinley Elementary School as
part of our Principal for a Day experience! 💼✨

Ms. Santana, who currently serves as Director of Advocacy for Governor Sherrill, spent time engaging with our students and staff, sharing her journey in leadership, public service, and community advocacy. She spoke about the importance of perseverance, education, and using your voice to create positive change within your community.

Congratulations to Elianny E. who received first place in the Newark debate 2025-2026 season. She was the first place speaker for the beginner division.
Additionally, the McKinley debate team placed 8th overall in the district for the experienced division. Congratulations to all of them!

Out of 25 schools and students from grades 5–8, our very own Bryan Q. proudly placed 3rd in the English Multilingual Spelling Bee! 📚✨

Our students had an unforgettable adventure at the American Museum of Natural History! They traveled back in time with dinosaurs, discovered fascinating African mammals, explored cultures from around the world, and uncovered so many amazing facts along the way. From giant fossils to incredible exhibits, every corner sparked curiosity and excitement. Safe to say, we learned a ton and had an absolute blast!
