Spoke to a room full of incredible women at Imam Shadeed’s Winter Conference held at the Hilton in Newark, DE. We dove deep into “Through the Fire of Fitna.” I met and became instantly connected to who is a long time educator and speaker who taught us that Our Deen is NOT for Sale! Alhamdulillah, 15 new students are ready to embark on a transformative journey of Qur’aan reflection. Only by walking the Qur’aan can we navigate the fire of fitna and emerge unscathed or better yet like Prophet Ibrahim (AS) where your fire is turned cool for you and your trial only leads you to a profound gratitude for and soul deep belief in your Lord. Can I reintroduce you to the Qur’aan?! Let’s begin this powerful journey together!

When someone asks for proof regarding the Deen they are looking for you to give a verse from Qur’aan or sound Hadith for what you just told them—personal opinions, choices or references to what you read in a book at sometime or what you heard from a Shaykh in a lecture don’t count. That doesn’t make legislation. It is not daleel (دليل). Passing this on to one another spreads confusion and dilution of this beautiful complete Deen.

We are not to emulate one another. We are to emulate and give life to the Sunnah of our Beloved Prophet (ﷺ). This is especially true now during these times of confusion. We have been given guidance as to what to do.

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivered an admonition that made the hearts fearful and the eyes tearful. Then said….”He among you who lives long enough will see many differences and disagreements…So for you is to observe my Sunnah and the Sunnah of the rightly-principled successors, holding on to them with your molar teeth.” (Abu Dawud 4607)

Hold on y’all.
Hold on tight.

Because Shaytan will make the difference not strange and far from you but near and familiar. Just a step or two from where you’re already at. Then 💥 off you go 🏃🏽‍♀️Because it was made to appear beautiful. The only way you will see the differences as strange is if the Sunnah is what’s already familiar to you. The only way you have a chance of seeing the reality of it as ugly is if the Sunnah is the only and most beautiful thing to you.

And here’s the flip side of giving an authentic reference…are we LIVING BY authentic references? Do our actions have a solid reference behind them?

Is our hijab styled the way Allah designed it, the way Sahabiyyaat wore it or after the latest IG tutorial?

Are we looking around copying each other’s misled actions 🤷🏽‍♀️ & being convinced of one another’s “deep” philosophy or are we referring back to Allah & His Messenger when we don’t know or differ in a matter then submitting to the evidence 📖

Would Rasulullah (ﷺ) recognize you? Or is your practice filled with ways out your desires led you to seek?

May Allah increase us in knowledge and understanding.

What does arrogance look like in women?
What are some signs of arrogance we experience in the masjid?

How can you check yourself to ensure pride doesn’t creep into your actions or interactions?

Reflect on a time when you felt better than someone. How did you measure? What caused this feeling, and how can you combat it with humility?

Think of a time when admitting you were wrong was difficult. How could humility have changed the outcome? 🤔

We’ve just started another week of our Verses and Vitality morning series! 🌅 This week, we’re teaching humility—what it is and what it isn’t! That means we’re unpacking arrogance, also known as narcissism 😤, and taking a hard look at the romantic relationships we’ve gotten into and eventually had to escape from. 🚪✨ The answers are in the Qur’aan because Allah has described both the qualities that elevate us and the traits that destroy us. Our WhatsApp chat is full of reflection questions and personal growth, Maa shaa Allah 🌿

Ra-qi-ya (رَقِيَ) means to rise, advance, ascend, upward development, to lead someone up; Ra-qaa (رَقَى) an incantation for good (or evil).

RUQYA: to recite Qur’aan, Dhikr and Du’a as prescribed by Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) to heal or cure oneself or another; a means through which a believer may turn to Allah for assistance to cure a spiritual, physical, psychological, or emotional ailment, or to rise above the black magic or evil eye that has been placed upon you, or the possession of Jinn, believing that Ruqya has no benefit by itself, but the benefits are from Allah alone.

✨ Tips for Performing Ruqya ✨

1. **Make it a Daily Practice** 🗓️
You don’t need to have an ailment to perform Ruqya! Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) did this every day. Let it be part of your routine!

2. Firm Belief is Key 💪🏾
The effectiveness of Ruqya depends on the level of belief and trust you place in Allah. Recite with a heart full of faith and conviction, not just as background sound.

3. **Avoid Talismans & Amulets** 🚫
Stick strictly to the Quran and authentic supplications from the Sunnah. Talismans and amulets have no place in Ruqya.

4. Recite Over Food & Drink 🍽️💧
You can recite Ruqya over water, food, or oil. Ingesting or using these items after reciting can be a means of healing.

Remember, Ruqya is a powerful means of protection and healing when done correctly. For that reason I translated a Ruqya Instruction Booklet my husband brought back from Mecca. Knowing the English of what you’re reciting connects you powerfully to your healing. 💖

This verse opposed the majority and dominant worship of idols at the time and was a declaration that put Muslims (someone who submits their will to the will of God) in a different class altogether, that all my heart, all my service, the very purpose of my life and even my death are devoted to Allah. This is not what most people do. But affirming this truth and living it is what will give you success in this world and in the hereafter. This is the example of Ibrahim...

Verily, Ibrahim was a nation, obedient to Allah, upright, and he was not one of those who associated partners with God. (He was) thankful for His (Allah's) favors. Allah chose him as an intimate friend and guided him to a straight path. And We gave him good in this world, and in the Hereafter he shall be of the righteous.

Whatever mood or state your heart is in, YOU are worthy of Qur’aan.

✨🌿 Follow Allah’s Prescription for Healing 🌿✨
Affirmation #8: Allah sent me words of healing.

‎يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ قَدْ جَاءَتْكُم مَّوْعِظَةٌ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَشِفَاءٌ لِّمَا فِي الصُّدُورِ وَهُدًى وَرَحْمَةٌ لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

"O mankind, there has come to you advice from your Lord and healing for what is in the breasts and guidance and mercy for the believers." (Qur'an, 10:57)

This powerful verse conveys to all people that the Qur'an is not just a book of instruction and recitation; it is an advice and source of healing for every state the heart can be in and a source of mercy and guidance for the believers. This because the Quran is comprised of real-life stories that, in moments of our lives, can be our very own too.

The healing advice is in how Allah speaks to us to comfort, guide and caution us using stories of real life people. It’s relatable if only you would look for yourself in the stories told. It is your spiritual guidance, your solace for your innermost concerns, and a path and model toward righteousness. Allah knows what hurts us and makes us feel down; for every dis-ease there is a cure.

Stop running to what seems like would bring you peace and happiness in this world. It is in reality EMPTY. Connect to the Qur’aan. Let its pages speak to you, heal you where you are hurting. Read then read again. Take the action you find in the Qur’aan to make a difference in your faith. One of the names of the Qur’aan is called Ash-Shifaa’ الشفاء. One of Allah’s Names is Ash-Shaafee الشافي. And it is He Subhanallahu wa Ta’ala who sent you words of healing 🕊️💖📖

Tonight, I seek protection with Allah from islamaphobia and acts of discrimination, from gun violence, injustice and COVID.

I seek protection with Allah from doubting myself, doubting Him (ta’ala), and worrying about my future, this Dunya, every ‘what if’ that increases anxiety and prioritizing the opinions of other people.

As I prepare to go to bed tonight, I remember how Your Beloved Muhammad (SAWS) taught us to join our hands together, lightly blow into them, recite the Three Qul’s in them for purity of heart, then wipe our body starting with our head and face and down the front of our body for protection.

Dear Lord, make us of the righteous, and grant us a grand rising. I intend to make this sleep a means of strengthening my body so that when I wake I have energy to serve You and do Your work.

When I brought my Ijaza home to my mom I opened up the jumbo scroll and showed her my name at the bottom in Arabic. Above it, all the names of honorable reciters and teachers before me. It reached to the top which all Ijazaat do to Rasulullah (ﷺ) ❤️. Above his name, Angel Jibreel (عليه السلام) and at the very top ALLAH (ﷻ)!

Mom looked at me lovingly and cried. She does not read Arabic but she understood the power in this special paper. She said THIS is the true lineage! You have connected us back to what REALLY matters. We might have lost connection to our people but you brought us back to our spiritual selves!!

That’s my mom! And I love her today and every day💖💖💖.

Allah will change my life when I transform what is in my heart.
