Yesterday, the 8th graders were invited to join Mrs Rudd for a “Welcome to High School Orchestra” night.
We had a nice dinner, made some new friends, and really enjoyed the Newark-Granville Symphony Orchestra concert!! It was so inspiring!
Welcome to High School Orchestra!! We’re going to do great things together.

As we wrap up Teacher Appreciation Week, we’d like to say THANK YOU to all the private teachers who help our musicians!! They push them, inspire them, mentor them, and help them find the best musician they can be.

We love all of our private teachers that work with the NCS Orchestra students, but we were very glad to present one special teacher with a hugely deserved award in her honor.
Mrs Ginny Workman has been a foundational character in the Newark Orchestra program for decades. She has taught thousands of student musicians, and she has made each of them better because of the wisdom and mentorship she provided.

On Thurs at our spring concert, we were thrilled to honor Mrs Workman as she retires (again😉) with an award that will forever hang in the music hall. Inspiring musicians (and teachers!) to hold high standards, work hard, and make beautiful music.

The Virginia Workman Award will honor a graduating senior who has performed with outstanding musicianship, been a leader of their peers, and been a positive influence in the orchestra program during their years at NHS.

THANK YOU Mrs Workman for a lifetime of passion and hard work making us all better musicians and caring for your students and this orchestra program with a deep and generous love.
