Practical life activities are an important aspect of the Montessori classroom. There are always materials available for our students to practice practical life skills. These skills help develop strong hand muscles for handwriting, support children in developing self-discipline, and increase confidence in their ability to carry out meaningful tasks independently.

Some of these activities include: buttoning, zipping, cutting, pouring, spooning, washing, stringing, and sweeping.

Newark Center for Creative Learning, a local progressive elementary school, will be hosting group tours on May 5th. Montessori and progressive education philosophies overlap in many ways, and several of our families have found NCCL to be a great fit for their child.
