Today is Tax Day. Whether you need to file a tax return as a full-time student depends primarily on your income, your dependency status, and if you want to get money back from taxes already withheld from your paychecks. Check if you must file for the 2025 Tax Year. The IRS requires you to file a federal return if your income for the year crosses these thresholds: If you are a dependent (e.g., your parents claim you) and your Earned Income exceeds $15,750 (wages, tips, salaries)
