The University of Delaware is launching a new center focused on neurologic recovery research.
The Delaware Center for Neurologic Rehabilitation and Recovery Research (DCNR3), led by Senior Director Susanne Morton and Co-Directors Darcy Reisman and Roxana Burciu, brings together researchers, participants and clinical resources to advance research on stroke and Parkinson’s disease and improve recovery outcomes.

🎵 A childhood love of singing led University of Delaware alumna Natalie Atkinson to a career helping children with voice disorders.
The 2025 graduate of UD’s Speech-Language Pathology program now works at the Sean Parker Institute for the Voice Weill Cornell Medicine, where she combines her passion for performance with clinical care.

When Thomas Kaminski graduated from high school, his yearbook predicted he was “most likely to become an athletic trainer.”
Decades later, the University of Delaware professor of kinesiology and applied physiology will be inducted into the National Athletic Trainers' Association Hall of Fame—the profession’s highest honor.
The recognition celebrates his impact as an educator, mentor, researcher and advocate, as well as the generations of athletic trainers he has helped shape.

Stress during and after pregnancy may have lasting effects on cardiovascular health, according to new research from the University of Delaware.
The study, led by Virginia Nuckols, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Kinesiology and Applied Physiology, found that women who reported higher stress levels during and after pregnancy were more likely to develop elevated blood pressure years later.
The findings, recently published in the American Heart Association journal, "Hypertension," highlight pregnancy and postpartum as important opportunities to support long-term cardiovascular health.

The University of Delaware School of Nursing is launching the state's first nurse-midwife master’s program to address maternal healthcare shortages in the state.
The new program aims to close gaps in prenatal and postpartum care and will build a pipeline of trained nurse-midwives to serve Delaware communities.

The University of Delaware campus community is mourning the loss of Donald Allan Waterfield Jr., professor and former dean of the College of Physical Education, Athletics and Recreation, now the College of Health Sciences. He passed away April 29, 2026, at the age of 84.
A visionary leader and dedicated advocate for health promotion, Dr. Waterfield helped shape the future of health sciences education at UD.
