Science came to life in the classroom as our sophomores explored the structure of DNA through a hands-on strawberry DNA extraction lab!

Using common household materials, students broke open strawberry cells and separated the DNA, allowing them to observe genetic material with their own eyes. Through this interactive experiment, they gained a deeper understanding of cell structure, heredity, and basic biotechnology techniques while experiencing the excitement of scientific discovery firsthand.

Experiences like these continue to inspire curiosity, critical thinking, and a love for STEM at Saint Vincent Academy.

Saint Vincent Academy mourns the passing of Sister Carol Ann Lockwood, SC, whose life was a testament to faith, service, and the transformative power of education.

Sister Carol Ann devoted many years to the ministry of education, serving students throughout New Jersey as a teacher, campus minister, admissions director, and educational leader. Throughout her ministry, she touched countless lives through her compassion, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to helping young people grow in faith and knowledge.

At Saint Vincent Academy, Sister Carol Ann will be fondly remembered as a Religious Studies teacher whose dedication to her students reflected the Vincentian values she lived each day. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and deep faith left a lasting impression on our school community.

We are grateful for Sister Carol Ann’s years of service and the many lives she enriched through her vocation as a Sister of Charity. May she rest in God’s eternal peace, reunited with the Sisters and loved ones who have gone before her.

Please keep Sister Carol Ann, her family, and the Sisters of Charity of Saint Elizabeth in your prayers.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her.

At our Senior Convocation, the Class of 2026 reflected on just how far they have come - from the baby pictures that reminded them of where their journeys began, to the young women they are becoming today.

The messages shared throughout the gathering served as powerful reminders: know your worth, never forget your sisterhood, and always lead with empathy and kindness. Saint Vincent Academy is the place where these young women grew up, learned to lean on one another, and took each step together.

As they’ve prepared for graduation and the next chapter ahead, our seniors were reminded that they are Vincentian women: brave, thoughtful, resilient, and never alone. Their potential is without measure, and we could not be more proud of all they have become.

You can take the graduates — ’67, ’70, and ’76 — out of SVA, BUT you can’t take SVA out of the graduates!
A beautiful example of lifelong sisterhood and friendship, captured at the Boris and Alen Lisjak Winery in Slovenia with SVA alumnae Margaret Roman, Liz Vochecowicz, and Mayra Gould. Their reunion is a reminder that there are no boundaries when it comes to SVA sisterhood—it spans generations, miles, and even continents.

Once an SVA sister, always an SVA sister! 💙🐾
