Through structured training and stage experience, dancers grow in confidence, discipline, and artistry. The Central Ohio Youth Ballet was founded in 1995 by Robert Cole of The Ballet Academy and Lisa Cole of Moving Arts Pilates and Dance. Since that time we have grown to include dancers from seven central Ohio counties and a host of studios and academies. A 501(C)(3) nonprofit organization, COYB h

as established itself as a successful training ground for talented dancers. Each year COYB presents two large productions that include the Nutcracker on Thanksgiving weekend and a spring performance which varies each year. Past spring performances have included Peter and the Wolf, Swan Lake, Giselle, contemporary works, to name a few. COYB has also presented outreach, festival and other smaller-scale performances throughout the year. Educational opportunities for dancers include an annual summer intensive program, master classes, and the Second Saturday program. Second Saturdays offer students unique opportunities to learn more about the dance world through classes, lectures, and field trips.

A former BalletMet principal dancer is coming to our studio TOMORROW! 🌟

Rachael Parini spent years as a principal dancer with BalletMet (and beyond!) before retiring last year. This fall, she's bringing that experience into our studios for a masterclass our Intermediate and Advanced dancers won't forget.

Thursday, September 3
5:00–6:15pm: Intermediate Masterclass (Level II)
6:30–7:00pm: Q&A with Rachael
7:00–8:30pm: Advanced Masterclass (Level III)

Already enrolled in Intermediate or Advanced? You are all set. This happens during your regular class time and is included with Fall enrollment.

Not currently in one of those classes? Community dancers are welcome to join. Register at coyb.org/enroll.

Don’t panic! ❄️🐭🍬 There’s still time to audition for COYB’s The Nutcracker!

Whether your dancer has been counting down for weeks or just decided to give it a shot, this is your reminder to show up.

Dancers ages 8+ with at least one year of prior dance or gymnastics experience are welcome to audition. No prepared choreography and no previous Nutcracker experience are required, just come ready to move.

This year marks more than 30 years of COYB bringing this beloved story to stages across Central Ohio, and we can’t wait to see who joins the cast.

“I’ve never been in The Nutcracker before. Can I still audition?”

Yes! ❄️🐭🍬

Every year, dancers come to COYB auditions without a single Nutcracker credit to their name and leave cast as a soldier, snowflake, party guest, or one of the other 80+ roles!

Dancers ages 8 and up with at least one year of prior ballet or gymnastic experience are welcome to audition. No prepared choreography is needed, just come ready to dance.

Central Ohio Youth Ballet is thrilled to welcome Rachael Parini, retired BalletMet principal dancer, for a special masterclass offering dancers the opportunity to learn from a professional artist and experience professional-level training firsthand.

It looks like hundreds of dancers trained at the level that was right for them, from those who simply wanted to experience the joy of dance to those who went on to pursue professional careers on stages around the world.

It looks like thousands of volunteers giving their time and talents behind the scenes.

And it looks like more than 75,000 audience members experiencing the beauty, artistry, and joy of live ballet right here in Central Ohio.

On National Nonprofit Day, we're celebrating the impact of more than three decades of Central Ohio Youth Ballet—and every dancer, family, teacher, volunteer, donor, sponsor, and audience member who has been part of the story.

You don’t have to be a current COYB student to dance with us this fall. We have several opportunities coming up that are open to dancers throughout Central Ohio:

🩰 The Nutcracker Auditions | August 29
Be part of a Central Ohio tradition more than 30 years in the making! Auditions are open to dancers ages 8+ with at least one year of dance or gymnastics experience. No prepared choreography or previous Nutcracker experience is required.

✨ Master Classes with Rachael Parini | September 3
Join us for a special evening of master classes with former BalletMet principal dancer Rachael Parini. Step outside your regular training, learn from an accomplished professional artist, and leave the studio challenged and inspired.

💪 Progressing Ballet Technique® Classes | Saturday Mornings
PBT is now at COYB and open to area dancers! This specialized conditioning program complements traditional ballet training by helping dancers build strength, stability, alignment, and muscle memory that carries directly into their technique.

Whether you train at COYB or another studio, we’d love to have you join us.
