“Blue Coat Ceremony 2025” - Newark School Of Global Studies where “Your Passport to the World” begins with the Support, Guidance and Leadership of Superintendent Roger Leon, Chief of Staff Havier Nazario, Assistant Superintendent - Dr. Maria Ortiz, School Provost - Ambassador Shabazz, Keynote Speaker: Angela Chin, US Diplomat and Salutation Presenter: Dena Mekawi, Mekawi Impact along with our School Principal Nelson Ruiz who addressed the Global Business and Diplomacy Major Students in a Star 💫 studded program. The Blue Coat Ceremony is Global Studies’ Right of Passage Ceremony representing that our students are ready to take on the NSGS Oath:
“Today, we all pledge to bring honor to that awesome privilege and opportunity to tackle the great global issues of the our time while preparing for college and career experiences both locally and globally, to master a second language, to immerse ourselves in a foreign culture, to travel abroad and to become the Global Leaders of tomorrow!”

Global Studies’ Ambassadors and Chaperones took flight last night to Taipei City, Taiwan where they will begin their week long journey to explore this beautiful island. We look forward to being immersed in Taiwan’s rich history, culture, customs and practice the Chinese Mandarin language!
