Another awesome AFROTC summer opportunity! 🌞

C/Swaray (AS300) visited Andrews AFB and got a behind-the-scenes look at different AFSCs—asking questions, making connections, and getting hands-on operational experience!

Max 4 Field Training Complete! Det 128 has 4 new POC (C/Reed, C/Swaray, C/Simms and C/Freeman). These cadets completed their 19 day leadership camp focusing on drill, PT, leadership projects, and deployment scenarios, averaging about 20K steps a day. We are excited to see how their implement their new leadership skills back into the detachment.

Another cool summer opportunity!

C/Telelenburg (AS400) was hand selected to attend a Combative’s training course at the United States Air Force Academy this last week.

There are about a dozen optional courses that cadets are able to apply for over the summer, fully funded by the Air Force, to help in their whole Airmen development! Combative’s is one of many!

Cadets are offered a variety of opportunities while they are in ROTC to experience the operational Air Force. Recently C/Higgins (AS300) completed a 2 week Special Warfare Orientation Course (SWOC) which provided an in depth introductory training to the Special Warfare Officer career field. During this time he completed mission sets focused on establishing/controlling airfields, guiding air strikes, and personnel recovery from behind enemy lines.

High school seniors, the window is now open to apply now for the AFROTC High School Scholarship (HSSP). An HSSP covers up to 100% college tuition, provides a book stipend ($450 a term) and a monthly stipend starting at $300 a month! You can use the scholarship at any university that has an AFROTC Detachment, but we would love to talk to you about joining our detachment at the University of Delaware! Go to AFROTC.com/scholarships for more details and to apply. The application window closes in December, apply early to ensure you have time to complete you fitness and medical requirements!

This 2 day orientation takes place the Thursday and Friday prior to the start of the Fall 2025 term. You will get to meet current cadets, learn about the requirements and opportunities of the program, and take the first step towards becoming a commissioned Officer in the Air Force!

Favorite ROTC Memory: My favorite ROTC memory is our yearly Dining Out event. It’s one of the few times where the entire detachment comes together with cadre, family, and friends to celebrate everything we’ve worked for. After a semester of early mornings, long hours, and high expectations, it’s meaningful to take a moment to recognize our accomplishments and reflect on how far we’ve come. 

Advice for current/future GMC: Focus on being dependable over being noticed. You don’t need to be the loudest cadet in the room to earn respect. Sometimes the quietest actions inspire the strongest leadership.
