Happy National Read a Book Day!

Alum Joe Maguire earned his Master of Instruction from UD, in the middle of a 42-year career in elementary education. Now, he's a published author: his book Someday ABC's walks kids through the alphabet using sight words and everyday vocabulary, introducing a new career on every letter and ending each one with "Someday, you may be…"

His graduate work at UD deepened a teaching career already in motion, and this book grew straight out of those years in the classroom.

Delaware Athletics is bringing a distinctive piece of its athletic history back to life with a refreshed version of the fan-favorite Fightin’ Blue Hen D mark for the 2026-27 athletics year! The UnvaulteD design will serve as a limited-edition mark used throughout the season, aimed to story tell around the incredible history and tradition of success at UD and engage the fanbase with exclusive merchandise offerings.

The initial merchandise lineup will be available first at the merchandise booths inside Delaware Stadium this Thursday, September 3 when football kicks off the 2026 season. Following the game, fans can visit shopbluehens.com to explore the collection and own a piece of UD history.
