Day 6 - Thursday, March 17
This morning was the first we got to sleep in and we were very excited about that!!! Some more than others! 🤣🤣
Today we went to an active Volcano!!! We sailed above the underwater Nea Kameni ( New Burnt one) Volcano and climbed to the top! To go up and back down is 1.6 miles. We were able to see pockets of sulfur steam coming from the Volcano as well as actually feel the steam with our hands in some areas.
We sailed over a hot spring and visited a beach on the eastern coast before heading to Oia (E-yah), the most picturesque place in Greece (often seen on postcards).
On our last evening in Santorini some dressed up for a nice dinner at Pygros Restaurant.

Day 5 - Wednesday, March 16
Each day seems to get more amazing than the last! We flew to the beautiful Santorini Island (aka Volcano Island) in the Aegean Sea. We visited Fira the capital of Santorini.
We enjoyed a guided sightseeing tour of Akrotiri; and also visited the highest mountain on the island, Mount Profitis Ilias and was able to take in some of the most amazing views!
Since Greece has not had weather quite like the snow and rain they received in recent weeks there is a lot of new greenery all over the island; even the natives are amazed by its beauty. Generally everything would be covered in rocks and Volcano dust.
The evening ended with a fantastic meal at Tabasco Restaurant!

Day 4 - Tuesday, March 15
Today was a beautiful day! The sun was bright and warm! We visited an Olive Farm where we heard all about how to farm olives. We were served black and green olives, feta cheese, olive oil and (very) toasted bread. Some tried olives for the first time, some confirmed that yes, they in fact still hate olives; Lol, and others found them to be a tasty and delicious treat!
We also enjoyed the Delphi Archaeological Museum and a guided tour of the Delphi site where we learned all about Greek mythology and the oracle. Our amazing tour guide, Penny, was enthusiastic, animated, and quite informative; and easily connected with the students immediately!
