If you guessed D (Between ages 4 and 6) - you nailed it! 🎉

Many parents get anxious when they see their 3-year-old switching the spoon or paintbrush back and forth between left and right hands. But neurodevelopmentally, hand-swapping is completely normal!

What is happening in the brain:

💡 Before a child settles on a dominant hand, both sides of their brain are actively coordinating across the left-right divide a critical skill called crossing the midline. Forcing a dominant hand too early can actually disrupt natural motor development!

At Safari Kid, we give children bilateral tools like beads, lacing cards, and musical instruments allowing their natural hand preference to emerge right on schedule.

Ever wonder why your toddler sticks their tongue out when they're concentrating? 👅🧠

It looks like an adorable quirk, but it's actually pediatric brain science in action!

In the motor cortex of the brain, the area that controls finger dexterity is located right next to the area that controls the mouth and tongue. When a toddler is putting intense focus into fine motor work—like conquering a tricky puzzle, snapping building bricks together, or holding a crayon—that neurological activity literally overflows into their mouth.

That funny "tongue-out face" is proof that your child's nervous system is hard at work building focus, bilateral coordination, and hand strength!
