Maintaining Your Certification | PDUs and CPD
Passing the exam is the beginning, not the end. Almost every professional certification requires ongoing evidence of continued competence, and lapsed certifications are more common than most people realise.
PMI certifications, including PMP, PMI-ACP, PMI-RMP, PMI-PBA, and PgMP, operate on a three year cycle. PMP requires 60 Professional Development Units per cycle, distributed across the Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen areas of the Talent Triangle. CAPM requires 15 PDUs over three years.
PeopleCert certifications, including PRINCE2 and ITIL, use a three year renewal cycle with continuing professional development points or a renewal examination.
Scrum Alliance certifications including CSM and CSPO require 20 Scrum Education Units every two years.
ISC2 CISSP requires 120 Continuing Professional Education credits over three years plus an annual maintenance fee.
AWS certifications require recertification every three years, either by retaking the exam or passing a higher level certification.
How to earn credits without difficulty: attending training, webinars, and conferences. Reading approved publications. Volunteering with a professional body. Mentoring. Presenting. And critically, the work you already do in your role often qualifies if you record it.
Set a calendar reminder at eighteen months. Certifications almost always lapse from inattention rather than inability. Download Free Practice Test from https://www.learnersink.com/resources
