Dear Zoni Students, Faculty and Staff;
All the classes across NY, NJ and FL are postponed effective immediately for our students and faculty and will resume on March 30, 2020. Zoni school facilities will remain open for admissions and any student advice!
These past few weeks have been incredibly difficult on all of us and I would like to thank all of you who have emailed me your thoughts, whether in support of staying open or in support of postponing classes. I have been in contact with local health officials, the State Department of Education, SEVP, and the Mayors’ offices in order to arrive at the most responsible decisions and course of action for the students and staff in our school network with respect to the Covid-19 pandemic.
As the guidance from the CDC and the federal government has changed, so must our response. While I truly believe that we are safe in our community, the recent authorities’ recommendation to avoid large crowds and recent CDC guidelines for schools, make clear that the most prudent decision at the
present time is to postpone our classes starting tomorrow March 16, 2020 for a period of 2 weeks meaning all the students and staff will resume classes on March 30, 2020 and our team we will have transition to virtual learning if the crisis persists. In addition, just this afternoon NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio suspended all the public schools in New York City.
Some of our staff will report at their normal times during these two weeks to continue to work providing service to our students and prospective students as well to prepare for the future of the virtual online lessons. Therefore, effective Monday, March 16, all schools in the Zoni Language Center Network will be postpone classes for a period of two weeks. All extracurricular and school-related activities and events are suspended during this time. We will also continue to monitor all events associated with the Covid-19 pandemic and consider additional alterations to the school calendar if necessary.
This is both a challenging and an unprecedented time for our community as we navigate into uncharted waters. Rest assured that the safety of our students, faculty and staff is at the forefront of our minds and planning. The actions we take now will hopefully lead to a better outcome in the long run for our students and for all of us, despite how distressing and overwhelming they may seem. Thank you in advance for your cooperation and flexibility as we find our way through this unprecedented set of events.
