Last night’s opening night at the Riverdale Y was unforgettable. Seeing my incredibly talented voice student Shoshy Ciment shine as Rosemary in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying was such a special experience and an absolute joy. I’m so proud of her and so glad I was there. Don’t miss it—tickets are still available! Catch this fantastic show while you still can! 🎭

What an amazing way to give back to those in need right now. Helping some one breathe again. Something which we take for granted and don’t think about...until...we can’t. Giving them back their emotional and physical strength...boosting their spirit...and hope. A deeply diaphragmatic and rejuvenating hope....what bigger gift is there to give?

Beautifully written touching article. Music has this ability to capture our feelings and emotions sometimes beyond what words alone can express.

My Vocal Studio is now online. I have over 15+ years experience teaching and would love to help you achieve your goals! Reach out to me at (516)557-4587 or at [email protected] and let’s SING!
I love the words to this song by “The Carpenters” although I am far more familiar with the Sesame Street version that I sing to my one year old. ;) How true these words are. We each have a song to sing. We each have a voice that needs to be heard now more than ever. Some of us rejoice in our voices...some are afraid to be heard.....we all have insecurities...weaknesses and strengths. I’d love to explore them with you!
Sing.
Sing a song.
Sing out loud, sing out strong.
Sing of good things, not bad.
Sing of happy, not sad.
Sing.
Sing a song.
Make it simple to last your whole life long.
Don't worry that it's not good enough for anyone else to hear.
Just sing.
Sing a song.
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
La La La La La La
Sing. Sing a song.
Let the world.
Sing out loud.
Sing of love there, could be.
Sing…

I can’t tell you how often students have told me about that particular chorus teacher from elementary or middle school who told them not to sing or that they weren’t good enough for whatever reason and that they should either mime the words or sit in the back of the class. For many those feelings and words stick with them well into their adult lives and affect their actions and self-esteem. Fortunately there are so many amazing music instructors in this world who have more awareness about the damage that destructive statements like this can cause. I work with students all the time on busting these unfounded myths about how horrible their singing voices were when they were younger and replace it with knowledge and understanding. Singing is a joy that all of us should be able to use if we so desire!
Stop obsessing over talent—everyone can sing
Children with difficulty singing can be labelled as 'nonmusical' by parents, teachers and pop culture. This toxic idea of 'talent' can deprive people of music's benefits for the rest of their lives.
