SVA Art Education

Art Education Department's Class of 2026 invites you to their culminating exhibition, "Looking Forward to the Past." There are countless ways of teaching and learning about the continuous thread that binds the past, present, and future from many cultures around the world. The MAT Class of 2026 uses the tarot card as their collaborative representation of divination to reflect on and learn from the past to discover who they are now as artist-teachers embarking on their new careers as art teachers and mentors to children.

The exhibition opens on June 12th at the Flatiron Gallery with a closing reception on July 1st from 5:00-7:00 pm.

Our Class of 2026 students in their full regalia at Radio City Music Hall on May 14th. Students heard from guest speaker and walked across the stage to receive their diplomas, but their department graduation comes on July 1st! 🎓✏️

May has come and gone so fast, but with so much to share. On May 11th, the Class of 2026 completed their Thesis Presentations.
Students shared their arts-based research on topics that matter to them with their peers and loved ones. Congratulations to our students!

Our students have spent the last two semesters preparing their arts-based research and thesis work. Now, they are going to present it to the staff, their peers, and their loved ones on Monday, May 11th, in the Art Ed department.

In Materials and Processes 2, students collaborate to create their own color wheel. Students work together to delegate colors and assemble the final pieces. Students reuse these colors they create for their monochrome collages in the following session.
