Pothole damage is real. πβ οΈ
Those crater-sized potholes on the road? They can damage your suspension, alignment, and tiresβfast. One bad hit can throw off your steering and handling.
What to do: Slow down when you see them, avoid if it's safe, and check your car after hitting one. If your steering feels off or you hear new noises, get it checked right away.
Your car will thank you.

Your tire pressure drops in cold. π
For every 10 degrees the temperature drops, your tire pressure can drop 1-2 PSI. At 2 degrees, that adds up fast. Underinflated tires affect your handling, fuel economy, and safety.
Insider tip: Check your tire pressure when it's cold outside. Don't wait for a warning light. Proper tire pressure = better grip on ice and snow.
Keep them properly inflated.

Oil thickens in extreme cold. π’οΈβοΈ
Cold oil is thicker and harder to pump, putting stress on your engine at startup. This is especially true if you're using the wrong oil grade for your climate.
Insider knowledge: Check your owner's manual for the correct oil viscosity (like 0W-20 or 5W-30). The first number is what matters in cold. It's designed for your climate.
Use the right oil. Your engine will start easier.

Cold kills your battery. πβοΈ
At 2 degrees, your car battery loses about 50% of its power. If your car is slow to start, your battery is working overtime just to get the engine turning.
Quick check: Are your battery terminals clean? Corrosion makes cold starts even harder. Keep them clean and dry. If your car struggles to start, get your battery checked before it leaves you stranded.
Stay ready for the cold.

Tire Damage Check π
Winter storms = tire damage. Check yours now.
Look for:
βοΈ Cuts or slashes in the sidewall (not repairable)
βοΈ Bulges or bubbles (tire is failing)
βοΈ Punctures or nails (might be fixable)
βοΈ Uneven wear (alignment problem)
Sidewall damage = replace the tire. No exceptions.
Small punctures can be repaired, but only a shop can tell you for sure.
If you're not sure, don't guess. Get them checked.

Wash Away the Salt π§
Road salt = rust. Rust = expensive repairs.
After the storm, wash your car ASAP. Don't wait.
Pay special attention to:
βοΈ Undercarriage (use the spray wand, get underneath)
βοΈ Wheel wells and tires
βοΈ Door jambs and seals
βοΈ Any cracks or crevices
If you can't wash it yourself, go to a car wash with an undercarriage spray.
One wash now saves you hundreds later.

We Made It Through π
The storm is over. Our cars made it. We made it.
That's worth celebrating.
Take a breath. You handled it. You stayed safe. You kept your family safe.
Winter driving is hard. But you're learning, you're prepared, and you're not intimidated.
That's the whole point.

THIS ONE'S A GAME CHANGER π±
Seriously, keep a bag of cat litter in your trunk. Cat or no cat...
If you get stuck on ice or snow, pour some cat litter around your tires. It gives your tires instant traction so you can get unstuck. It's cheap, it works, and it takes up minimal space.
Pro tip: You don't need fancy sand or kitty litter. Regular stuff works just fine. And if you don't use it for your car, well... you have cat litter! π
