In partnership with the Forbes Five Star hotel The New York EDITION, we were proud to support some of our students with books, backpacks, and brand new winter clothes to carry them through this season.

We had an amazing day relaunching our literacy program in New York City. With the support of Marriott International every student walked away with brand new backpacks, school supplies, etc. We are excited to continue this impact with the world’s largest hospitality company.

📚✈️ From the cockpit to the classroom!
This summer, Delta Air Lines pilots joined WGI in Atlanta to spark a lifelong love of reading and aviation. Pilots read with students, shared what it’s like to fly, and handed out Delta wings + trading cards for every child. Thank you to Delta for helping literacy take flight!

Today we had friends from Marriott International visit and read with students as apart of our You Can Read program. Through this partnership Marriott associates are visiting regularly and volunteering with students.

This evening our founder Chance Wilson hosted a dinner for this talented group of students who have been interning with WGI. We are so proud of these future leaders and can’t wait to see their impact.

This Valentine’s Day we are sharing our love of reading! ❤️📚 Students received books from WGI to take home and build their libraries. Since relaunching this program we’ve supported hundreds of students. More to go!

We are proud to come full circle with the relaunch of You Can Read in Baton Rouge. Students received curated books to take home, with WGI volunteers set to visit regularly and read with students. Next up is the relaunch in New York City! Inspiring the next generation of readers all over the nation 🇺🇸 and the world 🌎!

Nick Deml has dedicated his life to public service, from the US Senate to the CIA and now leading Vermont’s Department of Corrections. We are honored to welcome him to the team.

Ten years since WGI was founded and four years since the first version of our learn-to-read app launched, we have taken another huge step to fulfilling our goal of teaching one billion kids to read and write.

Today, as the world celebrates World Literacy Day, the beta version of Lyra 2.0 becomes available and includes hundreds of improvements. The two key ones are:
✨ A brand-new design that features Lyra and three star mates who will take kids on a fun journey to literacy;
🔤 100 new, interactive lessons helping younger children progress from learning the alphabet to phonics, word formation and finally reading basic sentences.

The release version of Lyra will be available as soon as we have completed beta testing. Watch this space for more details.
