Congratulations, Class of 2026! 📚✨
We’re digging it! A small group of and their mentors enjoyed a beautiful spring afternoon recently at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG). They took part in gardening activities at the NYBG’s Edible Academy and got to admire many of the trees and flowers currently in bloom.

is a celebration of all who show up, step up, and make a difference in the lives of others. Thank you to everyone in the community who has committed time, resources, knowledge, and encouragement to help guide our scholars. Here we feature just a few of the thousands of amazing individuals who have volunteered with SSP over the last 40 years.

SSP staff had a wonderful time at our recent team-bonding pizza event! It was great to spend time together and learn about the art of pizza making. We definitely discovered that it’s a lot more work than we thought. 🍕

Meet Eda, a sophomore Lady Bear at the Academy of Mount St. Ursula and member of the school’s varsity volleyball team. She’s also taken taekwondo classes for seven years. Eda loves to read, having read more than 200 books in the past three years alone! She started her music journey, playing drums, in middle school and has since picked up guitar, because she loves how it “tells its own story in a song.” Eda also enjoys singing. “Music is my favorite way to express myself.”

from the Academy of Mount St. Ursula, the Mary Louis Academy, Cathedral High School, Bishop Loughlin, and Moore Catholic recently enjoyed a visit to Liberty Science Center, where they got to engage with interactive exhibits and took part in hands-on activities. Thank you, Lord Abbett, for sponsoring all five visits!
Thank you to all and mentors who joined us on Saturday at our ice-skating event at the Davis Center in Central Park. Everyone enjoyed time on the ice in a beautiful setting. If you’re looking to have an impact on the life of a New York City student, we’re always looking to expand our community of mentors.

Introducing Yaretzi, an and senior at St. Raymond Academy who recently created a captivating piece in acrylic paint, titled “Lady Blue,” for a Black History Month art exhibition at her high school.
