Hello and thank you for visiting my page, Here you will find all the information you need concerning your guitar instruction questions. Played in the NYC music scene since the 1980's
My band Prey For Reign played shows with bands such as, Quiet Riot, Zebra and Saigon Kick, and my band One Night Stand had the privilege of opening for Rock and Roll Hall of Famers The Rascals . But, most importantly, while working at Sam Ash(selling guitars of all things) I met Richie Cannata, sax player for Billy Joel, The Beach Boys and co-owner of Cove City Sound Studios in Glen Cove, As luck would have it he was looking for a guitar teacher for his son Eren, I got the job. While teaching Eren I was fortunate enough to play on numerous artist demos and radio and television spots at Cove City Sound. Also,I was invited to share the stage with many well known musicians at Richie's famous Monday Night Jam Session at The Bitter End on Bleeker Street in Greenwich Village.(Very Humbling). The fastest and most efficient way to learn an instrument is to have private one on one lessons with an experienced musician/teacher. A real teacher is someone who will know instinctively which method and pace is best suited to his student. Most instructors have a one size fits all teaching method. This is successful sometimes, but more often than not leaves students frustrated because they have no input or voice in what and how they want to learn. I have playing and teaching guitar for 35 years and have taught students from beginner to professional, hundreds of students, each with their own ambitions, goals and personalities. Over the years I have learned many things from my students which I believe is the secret to my success as a teacher. So if your looking for enjoyable and proficient guitar lessons you have found the right place. Now let's find out who You are. Generally guitar lessons fall under three categories:
1: The beginner with a desire to learn how to play the guitar. Maybe you have tried learning on your own and became frustrated or confused and stopped trying.
2: The player who has advanced past basic lessons and is looking for new insights on how to approach your knowledge of music theory, technique, improvisation, and how to apply this information to the fretboard.
3: The student who is preparing for advanced guitar studies
(Jazz Band, NYSMA, Music College, etc. Each student will have a variety of goals which might include:
Basic chords and strumming
Reading music
Reading Rock or Jazz guitar charts
Learning chord changes
Figuring out songs by ear
Building a repertoire of songs
Improvisation and soloing
Playing with other musicians in a band
