DIGITAL IT ACADEMY ... UNLIKE CERTAIN E-LEARNING PLATFORMS
---
5 reasons to enroll in the Digital IT Academy:

1. Unlike many, we're not big and scattered. Rather, we're focused on what matter to consultants and small and medium-sized businesses: hashtag , hashtag , and hashtag .

2. Unlike many, we don't confuse clients with useless jargon. Rather, we favor an educational approach, clarify Digital Transformation, DevOps, and Cloud key concepts and their whys and wherefores.

3. Unlike many, we don't fill customer heads with complex technical stuff. Rather, we do two things, we give the right information at the right level and provide actionable guidance

4. Unlike many, we don't pretend implementing technology is what matters because we know it's false. Rather, we tell about the hashtag and technology aspects, and teach how to connect them to boost revenue.

5. Unlike many, we don't lump all our subscribers in one basket. We know there are economic and cultural differences. Rather, we arranged our contents and fees in a way that guarantees 1,000% ROI to consultants and businesses in hashtag , hashtag hashtag , hashtag , hashtag .

Consider DevOps a business capability that fits into your organization. It's a combination of business and IT staff, skills, processes, practices, values, behaviors, tools structured around a value delivery lifecycle.

Having said that, DevOps acts as an event-driven system thought to make the business competitive and profitable. It reacts to two types of events: External and Internal.

External events— Markets and Priorities— set up DevOps instances that is, complete DevOps project teams—staff, skills, processes, practices, values, behaviors, and tools needed to take charge of the market or the business priority events.

Internal events—Develop & Test, Release & Deploy, Monitor & Improve—are triggered once the DevOps instance is set up to orchestrate the delivery of the expected value.

NO DOUBT, TODAY'S DEVOPS ISN'T THE FOUNDATION OF THE BUSINESS COMPETITIVENESS
---
DevOps proponents, I’m one of them, should be more humble when they discuss the business value of it.
Increasingly surveys, studies, and testimonies question that value. And they’re right.

Does it address the transformation businesses needed to meet their disrupted market challenges? It does not.

Is accelerated software deployment sufficient to compete against Google, Amazon, Facebook, Apple, and Walmart? No, it’s not.

Are software development and IT operations the only corporate functions involved in value creation? They’re not.

So, if DevOps can’t help with these, how useful it is? What’s the problem?

The answers in my recent article, « TechRepublic’s Bombshell Survey: A DevOps Fiasco? » (https://bit.ly/2KukmBP). It’s on DevOps(dot)com.

The solution: How to Yield Business Benefits with DevOps Now™. It’s at The Digital IT Academy (https://bit.ly/2tRy2f1).

After several hesitations and changes, finally my next book - The IT Organization of the Digital Age - will be on sale as of August 15, 2018.

The ambition is to write a book that is also accessible to non IT professionals. Several topics are addressed:
- the industry disruption impacts on global industries
- the impact on the business, its IT department, and its IT infrastructure
- the pivotal role of DevOps in adapting the business to the new competitive environment
- the structure, processes, practices and technologies of the so-called digital organization
- the perspectives and opportunities of technologies in which it is imperative to invest: Cloud, DevOps, Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, connected objects
- UNPRECEDENTED, the digital service development methodology for designing, developing, deploying and managing digital services.

The objective is to offer a sort of manual, a sort of guide that offers the reader the information he needs - strategic, operational, technological - to properly transform his business.

Written in two editions - English and French - the book will be available in print and electronic versions and published in collaboration with Amazon.

Why 78% of organizations fail to get DevOps right 06/23/2018

Is TechRepublic's Bombshell Survey Announcing the Next DevOps Fiasco?
---
Articles, testimonies, and surveys abound on the issue. Businesses struggle to extract the business value they expect from DevOps.

Is the problem? Or vendors' implementation approach is to blame? Can companies trust vendors and some of their associated thought leaders when they suggest that (sometimes pretend) deploying automation tools is all they need to meet the highly competitive business challenges?

I provide documented answers next friday. It's on The Digital IT Academy's Blog (https://bit.ly/2txcYdw)

Technology Alone Won't Buy You Happiness -- or Digital Transformation 06/19/2018

Technology Alone Won't Buy You Happiness -- or Digital Transformation from Joe McKendrick
---
It's a lesson that has to keep get driven home again and again: buying and installing all the latest technologies, and thinking it will all magically transform an organization with moribund processes into an overnight dynamo, is misguided -- and expensive -- thinking. That's the problem with "digital transformation" -- it's one of those feel-good terms that suggests enterprise leaders are recognizing that their futures lie in leveraging technology to create and deliver spectacular customer experiences, along with new types of goods and services.
