KT Vocal Studio

KT Vocal Studio Learn to sing and speak with consistency, power and confidence. I’m trained in both Opera and commercial singing and have been teaching since 1998.

**All lessons are online until further notice**

I have developed a safe approach to the art of Belt-Mixing, which includes a legitimate belt used for musical theatre, and commercial singing (pop/jazz/country) using the Catona technique and the genius of Dallas-based vocal teacher/composer, Bill Bauer. I am a long-time member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. In your lesson, I start where you’re at. I identify immediate problems and then put you on a regimen to move you toward your vocal best. I am a stern but encouraging teacher. I expect a vocalist to practice. Whether a beginner or seasoned performer. My goal is to get your voice to a place of ease in production and to articulate your performance in a way that connects you to your audience with artistry and freedom. Students have the option of recording each lesson to review and practice. Practicing is imperative to building your voice and performance skills. Examples:-breath management-support & posture-supported vocal production-matching pitch (ear training) -vocal freedom (finding your authentic voice - not just an imitation of your favorite vocalist)-identifying the style best suited for your voice -smart career goal setting-overcoming stage fright-audition/interview techniques-positive self-programming and goal setting-finding your singing/acting “type” -career marketing strategies-how to work “where you’re at”-scene study-monologue preparation-building basic musical theatre audition book.

This is Miss Texarkana Pageant week. Two miss and two teens will be crowned Saturday night, September 20th at the John Thomas Auditorium and represent our area in the Miss Texas Pageant in June.

My daughter, Karmyn Tyler, started out as a little girl in our local Little Miss Texarkana Pageant and later went to Miss Arkansas and represented Texarkana after competing in Miss Texas as Miss Park Cities. The third year she was attending Centary College, competed as Miss City of Roses, and at state won preliminary swimsuit and talent, and the title of Miss Louisiana. The scholarship money was a wonderful bonus.

She is currently attending grad school at NYU where she also teaches private voice and has appeared in several television shows and off-Broadway shows.

The pageant system has helped her gain confidence in performing and appearing on Fox Nation conducting Situation Room Interviews and a TV Color Commentator for IWP in Washington DC.

She went from being a little girl singing “I Choose To Be Happy” with a puppet to a young lady singing an Aria from Turandot on the Miss America stage in Atlantic City.

She grew physically, intellectually, emotionally, and spiritually and paid for her education. A wonderful Pageant experience from my perspective!

On Sunday night a new Miss America 2024 was crowned. Each candidate for Miss Texarkana has the possibility of being on the next Miss America Stage.
