It’s Thanksgiving this Thursday! You may also be familiar with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday but have you heard of Giving Tuesday? It’s a movement to radically change the world through the act of giving. Whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts, and everyone has something to give.
Every donation to our year-end fundraiser will be matched by our Board of Directors 2:1 in effect tripling your generous gift. Please consider giving to Dance Parade this Giving Tuesday and help us in our mission to provide FREE dance lessons to underserved schools and community centers across NYC and providing a competitive wage to our teaching artists in the program. We will also be greatly helped by you liking and sharing this post! The fundraising link is in our bio and Story posts but can also be accessed at:

Spotlight on Ephrat Asherie Dance at this year’s Dance Parade! For their first time at Dance Parade, EAD made the parade route their very own dance floor featuring club and dance tracks referencing the nightlife scene and showcased an intergenerational performance on our Main Stage featuring club dance legends Brahms “Bravo” Lafortune and Michele Saunders along with accomplished street dancer Matthew “Megawatt” West! So much fun to watch and bask in! Follow their account Ephrat Asherie Dance for upcoming performances and projects featuring African-American, Latinx street and club dances!

Our mission, close to our hearts, is to bring the joy of dance to under-served public schools and community centers across all five boroughs of New York City and (BIG NEWS!) we’re looking to spread the love to Philadelphia in 2025! By paying teaching artists above average compensation, we aim to empower the next generation through the art of dance and culminate their journeys with an exhilarating experience at the 19th annual Dance Parade and Festival in NYC on Saturday, May 17, 2025 as well as the 1st Annual Dance Parade in Philadelphia in September. This giving season help us share the JOY of DANCE by making a donation to our year end campaign.

A favorite performance from this year at DanceFest, the FESTIVAL portion of our Dance Parade AND Festival. House Head Session had us moving and grooving to their smooth moves on our Main Stage at Tompkins Square Park! Did you have a favorite this year at DanceFest?

Our Grand Marshal Camille A. Brown has a mentorship program for dancers 18 to 25 beginning again soon! Application and program information in post below.
DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 29TH!!!
CAMILLE A. BROWN & DANCERS' FREE MENTORSHIP PROGRAM
Because of the overwhelming response, CABD is excited to open the Mentorship Program again!
CABD’s Mentorship Program – an initiative of CABD’s FREE Social Dance for Social Change School – will pair a next generation Black artist with one of CABD’s accomplished former or current Company Members, who will provide unique one-on-one mentoring sessions, guiding participants as they navigate their own creative and professional paths.
CABD Company Members & Alumni are a phenomenal group with stunning careers, backgrounds, and life experiences – many have performed on Broadway (Fela!, Hamilton), and across the globe with Brown and other renowned professional dance companies, such as Rennie Harris PUREMOVEMENT, Kyle Abraham’s A.I. M., and Philadanco! They have received accolades, awards and distinguished degrees and certifications; started neighborhood programs that serve underrepresented communities; founded their own businesses; and have dedicated themselves to supporting the next generation of artists, leaders and creative thinkers through teaching, counseling, and coaching.
With integrity, generosity, and open hearts, CABD Company members are eager and excited to support Black artists through CABD’s FREE Mentorship program – and be an advocate, a sounding board, and a source of encouragement, empowerment, and wisdom to participants on their professional journey.
The CABD Mentorship Program is for those looking for professional development support in pursuit of a career in the arts. DANCERS AND ARTISTS WITH A STRONG CONNECTION TO DANCE, OR HAVE A DANCE BACKGROUND, BETWEEN THE AGES OF 18 AND 25, ARE ENCOURAGED TO APPLY!
