Our laboratory has a focus on understanding the onset and the molecular progression of Parkinson's D
Our main focus is to dissect the molecular events that trigger the onset of Parkinson's Disease and its progression. To achieve this we use a combination of genetic, molecular, cellular and proteomics techniques together with a variety of models including neuronal cell cultures, zebrafish, plants and human brain material. Every aspect of our basic research program is connected to the clinic through our ongoing collaboration with The Norwegian Centre for Movement Disorders.

Recent article just published with our collaborators at University College London on how the Parkinson’s disease protein DJ-1 acts as a redox sensitive adapter protein in high molecular weight complexes. The lead author, Dominik Piston, was a PhD student in my lab at The University of Stavanger.
