Not only do they have to read books such as Elie Weisel's Night and Maya Angelou's I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, but they also have to visit the Holocaust Museum and a Smithsonian exhibit on Japanese internment camps. Can we require all young people to do these things?

I see how it interferes with curiosity and the ability to take risks in learning, as well as eroding self esteem and causing social anxiety.
