On March 28, 2019 students in Prof. Spencer's WGST 3350/POLS 3157 class visited Bed Stuy to see the TENTS house in person. We heard from neighborhood residents Safiya Bandele, who shared her history with the house and the organization as well Prof. Kelly Britt, Brooklyn College Professor of Urban Archaeology. We observed a young man hop the fence and check out the house and noted that the mailbox had real estate solicitations. The TENTS house draws interest and attention. The TENTS organization is carefully stewarded by dedicated members. We have to act to ensure that this organization's history of community uplift and development will be preserved.
