Traditional German Goulash Recipe

Ingredients:

✔ 2 lbs (900g) beef chuck, cubed
✔ 2 tbsp oil or butter
✔ 2 onions, finely chopped
✔ 3 cloves garlic, minced
✔ 2 tbsp tomato paste
✔ 1 tbsp sweet paprika
✔ 1 tsp smoked paprika (optional)
✔ 1 tsp caraway seeds (optional)
✔ 3 cups beef broth
✔ 1 cup red wine (optional, for depth of flavor)
✔ 2 bay leaves
✔ 2 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
✔ ½ tsp black pepper
✔ 2 carrots, sliced (optional)
✔ 2 potatoes, cubed (optional, for a heartier dish)

Instructions:

1️⃣ Sear the Beef: Heat oil in a large pot and brown the beef in batches. Remove and set aside.
2️⃣ Sauté the Onions & Garlic: In the same pot, cook onions until soft, then add garlic and tomato paste.
3️⃣ Add Spices & Liquids: Stir in paprika, caraway seeds, salt, and pepper. Pour in red wine (if using) and let it reduce. Add beef broth and bay leaves.
4️⃣ Simmer: Return the beef to the pot, cover, and simmer on low for 1.5 to 2 hours until the meat is tender. (Add carrots and potatoes in the last 30 minutes if using.)

Here’s how to make Crockpot Corned Beef—tender, flavorful, and super easy!

Ingredients

3–4 lb corned beef brisket (with spice packet)

4 cups water or beef broth

1 onion, quartered

3–4 garlic cloves, minced

3–4 carrots, chopped

2–3 potatoes, chopped

1/2 head cabbage, cut into wedges (optional)

Instructions

Prep the crockpot: Place onion, garlic, carrots, and potatoes at the bottom.

Add corned beef: Place brisket on top, fat side up. Sprinkle the spice packet over it.

Pour in liquid: Add water or beef broth until the meat is almost submerged.

Cook on LOW for 8–10 hours or HIGH for 4–5 hours until fork-tender.

Add cabbage: In the last 2 hours (on LOW) or 1 hour (on HIGH), add cabbage wedges.

Rest & serve: Let the corned beef rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with veggies and broth!
