The mission of LaGuardia's Neurodiversity Program (formerly LaGuardia ASSIST) is to provide ASD students with access to services that will lead to successful academic outcomes while providing educational opportunities that will increase self-knowledge LaGuardia's Neurodiversity Program: Our program consists of trained student support assistants who specialize in working with issues pertaining to s

ocial interactions and self-esteem. Our mission: To provide students with access to services that will lead to successful academic outcomes while providing educational opportunities that will increase self-knowledge. Who We Serve
We serve students that identify with Autism Spectrum Disorders
Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD) Asperger's Syndrome
Autism Spectrum Disorders Isolated and Stigmatized Individual

Student Support Assistants: Our staff listens open-mindedly to each student and helps them identify goals to address each challenge. We assist students with:
Teaching skills in making new friends and acquaintances; Anxiety around others during social situations; Identifying and accomplishing goals; Teaching students to advocate for themselves; Referrals to other services and programming on campus. Area of Focus:
Executive Functioning - Studying techniques, and organizing skills

Social Integration - understanding one's interaction style, making friends on campus, and working in groups. Self Regulation - Being flexible with changes to schedule or plans, problem-solving, managing feelings and other stressors in order to meet classwork requirements, and achieving personal goals.
