: Before the holidays, we hosted Bronx Early College Academy (BECA) for their intensives week! 🎨 At the Art Center, students explored graffiti history and created a collaborative tag with Austin Greene, while others crafted terrariums and zines with Ayaris Perez. 🌱 Over at the Design Center, students sewed ornaments, charms, and pillows as part of their self-care crafts. ✂️💖 The dance crew brought energy to the space with bachata, salsa, and more, led by Beverly Lopez. 💃 What a week of creativity and connection!

Our Story

The DreamYard Project is an arts and social justice organization dedicated to working with Bronx youth, families, schools and communities to build pathways toward equity and opportunity. The organization provides nationally-recognized, transformative arts education for over 15,000 youth in the Bronx each year through school-based partnerships and out-of-school programs, and supports young people as they work toward higher learning, family-sustaining careers and social action.

Established in 1994, DreamYard started as an idea sparked by a group of young people who wrote a play about a place where children could go to dream. In 1999, DreamYard chose to work entirely in the Bronx because of the generational need and the belief that the organization could most effectively impact change with limited resources if they focused their work in one community. Today their programs are deeply embedded in and guided by communities in the Bronx, engaging with young people in 55 public schools across the borough including their own DreamYard Prep High School, as well as the DreamYard Art Center.

DreamYard programming opportunities include theater, poetry, dance, audio and visual production, photography, fashion design and Maker, all focused on fostering the creative development of young social change agents in Pre-K through 12th grade. Visit www.dreamyard.com for more information.
