I have a way of working kinesthetically/tactily while maintaining social distancing, working outdoors.
I just made a video demonstration.
This can also be done alone.

Pole Work 6 26 20 at 9 31 PM A way of working with a learner/student that allows for kinesthetic communication--like hands-on work, the second invention F. M. Alexander brought to his wo...

Fascinating article by a somatic educator in the FeldenkraisR method and psychologist, "From Body-centered Psychotherapy to FeldenkraisR.". What about learning and movement instead of only healing and verbalizing feelings? Joly asks.

Great to get to share the treasures my teachers have given me at Somerville Community Running Day. "Why not me?" is the question asked by the keynote speaker, Becca Pizzi. Why not us? we can be the generation that realizes the potential of what Alexander discovered.

(Not to read while driving [!] or directly before operating heavy machinery)

I had a life-changing moment two days ago while giving a learning session. I learned more fully how I have habitually excluded the slight, subtle movement of the world around me from my perception. I have assumed it to be more static than it actually is. This was a learned choice, perhaps pre-verally, and I associate it with a (in hindsight clearly false) sense of stability or security.

For some people this may be must swifter to learn than it has been for me.

A question to ask yourself: am I at this moment while reading these words doing something to exclude the movability of the world around me? am I in some way trying to hold things rigid? what happens if I do a hair less of that?

Just posted this but I'm not sure it went through--free (at cost) AT learning session for anyone who's read 4 chapters of Frank Pierce Jones or The Use of the Self. Accommodations will be attempted for illness, disability, or lack of access to books. Thanks for doing your part to support awareness of consciousness in manner of movement of the self.

For Alexander Technique Awareness Week, anyone may receive a learning session at cost ($18 for my time), if you have read:

--four chapters of Frank Pierce Jones's _Body Awareness in Action_ OR

--the first few chapters of The Use of the Self by F. M. Alexander.

and if you have not had an Alexander Technique learning session with me or someone from a similar training background (Alexander Technique Center at Cambridge)

I want to focus on sharing the experience with people who are most invested.

If you are blind, unable to access the books, or suffering from serious health issues that make reading very difficult for you, please contact me and I will try to make accommodations.

Thanks for doing your part to support the cause of consciousness about manner of movement of the self this year.

So abundant with energy for the work that needs to get done, so filled with feelings of nourishment and love from the floor, the air around me, the plants around me; so satisfied within that I don't feel a need to accomplish a great feat in order to be enough. Connected and natural. Happy and generous.

That's how I've felt after receiving a movement education session in the Alexander Technique. That's how I felt after my _last_ session a few days ago, and the one before that, and the one before that, and the one before. That I've let go, more than I thought was possible to let go. That life is easier than I'd been perceiving.

I had the image today of a field, big, wide wide wide,
quiet quiet quiet,
bright in the sun. The trees only at the edge of it, watching, bare. Gray. The sky overhead, curving, blue, quiet.
The lands spreading out to the sides, quiet. A feeling, in their quiet, of their curling toward me, embracing me by being quiet.
I felt myself free into my postural reflex's support subtly in receiving this image.
