These are my new fave shoes, so shiny and bright, a total delight. They are more more than just footwear; they serve as a reminder to aim high and .
Back in high school (shout out to La Chataigneraie, Geneva) "Go for Gold" was my mantra during sports seasons. Whether it was the 100m dash, 200m sprint, long jump, or high jump, the win was a thrill! Much credit goes to having extra long legs. Hugs to my high school cheerleaders for cheering me along the path to some fab victory laps.
However, the path to achieving our career aspirations can be a whole different ballgame, not quite as exciting as a race track, but we still set our sights on victory. The challenge lies in actually reaching that goal and the uncertainty and discomfort it brings. That’s rarely a problem in sports but what if we actually succeed in our career goals? Have you asked yourself that question?
So, perhaps this time around, we leave our doubts behind, shift our focus to our cheering squad, and embrace the journey of going for gold. And who knows, a pair of shiny shoes might just be the perfect companions on this adventure. 👟✨

I squeezed myself into the last seat, the room was packed this past summer where was leading a thought provoking session with her theme based life cards “The 10 Year Plan For Achieving Your Dreams”. It’s a box of boost right there!
Whether you are thinking of a one, three or ten year plan, this card game is extremely revealing (and beautifully designed). I just finished my deck and it’s become clear that coaching female leaders is a role I love AND that I also want to increase my university teaching and my public speaking presence.
In the meantime, if you’re feeling over (or under) whelmed by your current career trajectory and could benefit from a community and tools to move you forward, registration for my virtual six week Career Boost for Women is now open.

Hello there, am back and revving up for the fall season 🍁 If you're new here, I'm Helen – an executive coach, leader and speaker for women at a career crossroads. Welcome 🤗
What a summer it has been eh? I found myself at - a sculpture park in upstate New York visiting the fab duo that are and .
This is one sculpture I could not resist and as prompted, grabbed a basketball and took aim at the many hoops. Just another example of how art imitates life! It took endless tries to get the ball into one of the hoops - a reminder to keep on reaching for your goals.
If you need an extra boost to take a step in the right direction, or some positive encouragement - stick around. My virtual career workshop is back this October to help you make your first basket 🏀

Happy International Women’s Day to all of the fab in my life — and the ones I have yet to meet. I am grateful every day for the knowledge, support, and opportunities I have exchanged with this community of women. Let’s keep lifting as we climb, and stand tall (with heels if need be) while we are at it.

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with Cindy and Peggy for their Brave Transitions podcast, and am thrilled to share this episode with you all (link in bio). We discuss tunnel vision, dream manifestation, and yes — vibrant nights in NYC. 😂 I can’t be the only one who fell in love with this city and made the bold move from my gorgeous Geneva apartment to my dear NYC bestie’s couch? Take a listen and let me know...

If you’re seeking more joy in your career but don’t know where to start, the answers may be right in front of you. The tasks that always seem to get done — at times mindlessly — often reveal insight into what will fulfill you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Try out these questions for size:
- What tasks do I keep returning to that are not on my to-do list?
- What activities do I keep returning to, even though they are challenging?
- What childhood activities am I still doing today?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Sometimes our most complicated questions have the simplest answers. Did you uncover anything new?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
P.S. This is also the title of a fave method I've been using in coaching, based on Hal Gregersen's “Questions are the Answer:” a must-add to your shelf.

Anyone else breathing a big sigh of relief that March is here, the promise of spring (and warmer weather!) just around the corner? With Febudreary in the rearview, I’m turning my attention to increasing this month.
As a Chief Executive Optimist, am happy to share that studies have shown optimists may live longer: according to a recent study from CNN, women with the highest levels of optimism had a 1.5 greater chance of living past 85 years of age. Need I say more?
A few simple things you can do to boost your optimistic outlook:
-Celebrate small wins
-Journal
-Write down your goals
-Help others (always!)
What about you? What’s putting the spring in your step these days?

‘Fro your hands up in the air...if you remember sitting for endless hours for family photos like this one.
The memory is still fresh: how upset I was that I had to sit for what felt like years, rather than be out and about with my besties. Also, why on earth do all these photos turn out as awkwardly as they do? Grateful for photographers like .walkowiak and , whom I wish we had met back in the 70s 😉.
Now I look back at this photo with nothing but appreciation for such family rituals. I just called mum to let her know — all is forgiven 😂 and that I’m happy to have photos like these in my possession.
Thank you, Gina, for our most recent snap: taken for mum’s 80th 💛.
Anyone else have some memorable snaps that live on in infamy in your family?

A few tips for harnessing that “hire” love — a.k.a. your dream job. And no, you won’t need Steve Winwood to help you get there!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Take a blank sheet and start typing out the main attributes of the dream job. Identify the tasks, experience, and mindset that role requires.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Next, list the gaps that you need to fill in order to fill those shoes. Another degree, international experience, a network, a new language? Start collecting them along the way to build toward your vision.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Follow other people who have a job that you want. Look at their bio and see what they studied, their interests, what jobs they took, etc.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Have you picked up any helpful tips en route to your dream role? Share them below!

It was always a dream of mine to live and play in the city that never sleeps.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Lately, I’ve been having some absolutely fab conversations with women who have successfully pursued their dreams. A few themes keep popping up, which I want to share in case you find yourself *walking this way* toward your own dream:
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Grow your gang, a.k.a your sounding board. This journey is not a solo venture; women repeatedly mentioned turning to a group of trusted ears for guidance and insights along the way.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Get your finances in order, as any transition usually involves some $$ and you don’t want to trip out of the gate. (If you need help with that, check out — lots of free sessions there on all things financial.)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Keep a close eye on your impostor, alert and lurking along your path. Allow it to accompany you, but remind it to walk two steps behind you.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As for my dream: I conjured up NYC many a time, and here I am! Walking with a giant spring in my step, Run DMC-style (minus the bling, please).
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And you? What are you dreaming about on this snowy Friday?
