When a student says, “I don’t like to read,” what might be underneath it?
Students may not understand what they read, feel connected to the text, be capable of meeting the challenge, or convinced that their effort will lead somewhere meaningful.
Together, we’ll explore motivation as something educators can intentionally design for—not something students either have or don’t. We’ll discuss practical ways to help more students engage with text, persist through confusion, and experience the joy that comes when a struggling reader stops faking it.
