Imagine trading your school hallways for cobblestone streets, your cafeteria for homemade schnitzel, and your classroom for real-life experiences in Germany. CBYX isn't just a program, it's complete cultural immersion.

The CBYX offers 300 scholarships for high school students, recent high school grads interested in vocational fields, and young professionals to spend an academic year in Germany, living with a host family and experiencing everyday life like a local. Since 1983, CBYX has empowered over 30,000 young Americans and Germans to go beyond the classroom – to speak another language, experience a new culture, and build lifelong connections across borders.

American CBYX participants receive German language training, immerse themselves in German culture, and develop skills like independence, adaptability, and citizen diplomacy. More than just a study abroad program, CBYX fosters mutual understanding between the U.S. and Germany – shaping globally minded citizens through everyday experiences and the power of exchange.

The CBYX High School program application opens August 1! Learn more: https://usagermanyscholarship.org/

CBYX participant Caroline D., hosted in Essen, had the opportunity to connect with her uncle's host family from when he was a CBYX participant. Reflecting on the experience, Caroline shared, "My uncle has kept in contact with his host family since his year abroad. They have visited my family a handful of times over the years, however I never had the opportunity to meet them. They invited me to join their family in Dusseldorf, where we visited a Christmas market and had dinner. I had an amazing time with them and I was able to see just how important and impactful a host family relationship can be."
