This weekend, Xavier High School hosted the Speech and Debate Tournament for the New York Catholic Forensic League. Michael Manta, Israel Pierre and Nathaniel Kelly were finalists in Congressional Debate. Manta and Pierre both received half qualifications for state championships. Next week, the team heads to Fordham. Congrats, Knights!

Congratulations to the Xavier Speech and Debate Team on an incredible performance at the 2018 New York State Championship. The team captured a 5th place team trophy in Student Congress. Leading the team, Charlie Caso and Michael Manta reached the Semi- Finals of Congress with an outstanding performance by Israel Pierre. The team was one of only two Catholic schools in the state to have multiple students in the elimination rounds of congress. In speech, Jack McGee reached his second consecutive State elimination round, as a Quarterfinalist in Extemp Speaking. A great finish for the team!

Congratulations to the team of an impressive showing at yesterday's Sister Rainmonde Service tournament. Xavier had five students in the final rounds. Special congratulations to Charlie Caso, who took home First Place in Congressional Debate. Michael Manta, Israel Pierre and Sean May all reached the final round of Congress. Special congratulations to Patrick Scariano for reaching the final round of Varsity Extemp Speaking.

Congrats to the team for another great performance at the New York State Championship. Robert Stryczek took Second Place in Impromptu Speaking, Bobby Pederson reached the final round of Congress, and Philip LaBianca reached the Quarterfinals of Interpretation, and Jack McGee reached the Quarterfinals of Extemp Speaking. It was the sixth consecutive year that the team had multiple students in the elimination rounds of the tournament. Congrats to all!

A fantastic performance by Xavier at this weeks Emily Climente Memorial tournament at the Ursuline School in New Rochelle. Nicholas Detorfino took home a championship winning the tournament in Prose and Poetry Interpretation and gaining a half qualification to the state championship. John Bambry and Philip Labianca also reached the final round. Xavier also earned a team trophy. Congrats to all.

Xavier's Congress team is off to a great start! At today's Hugh McEvoy Tournament hosted by Stuyvesant High School, three Xavier Debaters advanced to the final round: Bobby Pederson, Joe Murgida, and Charlie Caso, earning the teams first half qualifications to the State Championship. Of special note, Bobby Pederson took First Place winning the tournament outright. Congrats!
