Preserving heritage is preserving humanity.
Heritage is carried in the languages we speak, the stories we grow up hearing, and the traditions we return to.
At NaTakallam, heritage is kept alive every day through conversation. Through the words our Language Partners continue to teach, share, and protect across borders.

Wrapping up an inspiring week at Deliver 2026 🌍✨
NaTakallam was proud to provide live interpretation in French, Spanish, and International Sign Language — helping make feminist dialogue more multilingual, accessible, and inclusive.
One message echoed throughout the week: the future of feminist movements depends on who gets to participate — and in what language.
From Wurundjeri dancers grounding the gathering in Indigenous custodianship, to conversations centered on localization, decolonization, and bottom-up power structures, this week reminded us that accessibility is not an add-on — it’s essential infrastructure for global dialogue.
Because global conversations only work when everyone can truly be heard — and understood. 💬

🇵🇸 Palestinian mother with her child from al-Khalil, 1930s, photographed by Khalil Raad. The mother wears a thobe adorned with 𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘇 (𝗔𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗰: تَطْرِيز), the centuries-old Palestinian art of hand-stitched embroidery.
Worked in red thread on linen, tatreez has long reflected ties to place, family, and heritage. Its motifs and color palettes often point to specific villages and regions, carrying histories and traditions from one generation to the next.

Why is the word for “mother” so similar across different cultures?
According to most linguists, the first syllables babies pronounce are "ah" and "mah." Over time, these early sounds have become associated with our historically and universally primary care-giver: mothers!
Happy to all those celebrating in the U.S., Australia, most of Europe, parts of Latin America, and around the world!
